9 Pounds Back On! Ugh!

I've gained back nine of the 18 pounds I lost.  I told my husband this morning and he said, "That's ok, there's just more of you to love."  He's just kissing up because I've been really angry with him the last few weeks so he's trying to score points.

My thyroid isn't managed.  This silly little organ just wreaks havoc on my body!  My husband suggested I go back to managing my thyroid myself, which was when I lost all that weight to begin with.  I can. I just prefer to be able to have my new doctor's input and approval for it because he's trying and he's not close-minded. I just don't think he's THAT open-minded about my getting my medication from Thailand as opposed to him.

I know my weight problem is my thyroid and stress and if I get my thyroid managed, it'll go away.  That doesn't stop me from browsing the aisles for the best weight loss supplement. I can't stand being this big! It's so frustrating.

Weight Loss Goal an Uphill Battle

I've managed to lose 13 pounds of weight since changing my thyroid medication regimen but it seems to be at a standstill right now.  I really thought when my thyroid dosage increased, it'd start peeling off again but so far, it hasn't.  The doctor said it takes three weeks to build up to the proper level when a dosage is changed but this is going to get discouraging real fast if it doesn't start coming off again.  I have 17 pounds to lose.  It doesn't seem like that much.  I don't think I am at that point of needing to find the best weight loss pills but I really wanted to be an additional 17 pounds lighter by spring.

Spring is almost here.  The days are getting longer and the geese have already come back.  That actually seems a bit early to me since we have a couple feet of snow on the ground but the geese are here.  Huge flocks of them are along the creek anticipating spring.  That's not a whole lot of time left to get rid of 17 pounds.

I can't wait for the snow to melt to get out and start walking.  That should help.

Three Total Weight Milestones: One Met

I have broken up my weight loss into three milestones so that meeting each one is quicker which gives me encouragement to move onto and finish the next milestone. I'm managing my thyroid medication by symptoms and it's been working so much better.

I've lost some of the weight I've gained since getting thyroid disease. I'm right at the start of the second milestone (ten pounds to lose in this milestone) but I'm at a standstill. The weight isn't coming off again. I'm also losing more hair than I should be and am always cold. Rather than give in and find best weight loss pills, it's time to increase my thyroid medication a very little bit to help take care of these symptoms. As hypothyroid symptoms decrease, so will my need to increase medication.

Optimizing my hormone levels is what is working for me right now. I'm not ready to give that up yet!

Alli

I wrote the other day about insulin resistance and belly fat due to high cortisol (caused by chronic stress). It's a big problem in our society as people get busier and busier while the economy stresses us around the clock. I'd like to see a study of how much weight people have gained over the past few years while our economy hit the skids.

There are probably a lot of people looking at weight loss products. I looked up an alli review myself. I wanted to see what the side effects of this could be because it's highly visible in the aisles when I go shopping every week. Does it work? Doesn't it? These are things that I was curious about.

Just Reduce Your Calories By 100 a Day

That's what my endocrinologist told me during my last visit when I complained about the weight gain because of my thyroid disease. I told him I don't over-eat, used to be tiny, etc. Instead of him even considering that my thyroid disease, which slows down your metabolism, is to blame, he said, "Just reduce your calories by 100 calories a day and you'll lose 20-25 pounds in a year." I wanted to hit him! A doctor who is SUPPOSED to be knowledgeable about thyroid disease was an idiot!

I seriously doubt anything but getting my thyroid function optimized is going to drop this weight, not even diet pills. I am going to change doctors. I was just not happy with this doctor at all. His "cookie cutter" treatment for my thyroid disease was:

  • Synthetic drugs;
  • Another biopsy; and
  • Removing my thyroid.

Oh yeah, and this was before he'd even examined me for the first time!

Looking for Diet Products

I am looking for diet products that don't involve taking medications. So you're probably wondering what else is left? I'm thinking all-natural, cleanses that don't make me feel sick, give me headaches, or are gross (and you know what I mean). Does anybody know of anything?

I took a picture with one of my girls the other day and it made me cringe looking at the neck area. I know I have nodules on my thyroid and my thyroid is enlarged with a goiter, but the added weight certainly doesn't help.

I Bit the Bullet Today...

I bought a swimsuit. Not that I'm in any shape to be wearing one but my four-year-old won't get into the pool unless somebody is holding her so a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. I hope people don't start yelling for eye bleach when they see me!

I should've kept up the exercising I started in April. Looking at myself in those three-way mirrors in the changing rooms sure gave me more views than I needed! It brought right to the forefront (in THREE WAY view) how much I really need to exercise.

I'm looking at the Kettlebell for exercise. They come in different weights and I'd personally rather use those than barbells. At this point, running around my yard would be better than what I do now.

Anorexia in Teenagers

My oldest is a pre-teen, six months away from being a teenager. She is all legs, thin and proportional. When she said she was fat, it floored me. What is it with kids' perceptions of themselves that they think they're fat when they're a size 0? If she wants to see fat, she should look at mom's thighs and butt! I've got the jiggle to prove it!

According to the American Psychiatric Association, the age with the most clusters for anorexia is age 14 and age 18. With three girls, it's something for me to keep in mind.

Most people are worried about being overweight. They're looking for the next best diet or the best diet pills available. They're looking for a quick fix or looking out for celebrity diets. Is there a quick fix? Is there something, besides living a healthy lifestyle, that helps a person lose weight faster? For those of us with medical problems with a symptom of weight gain, we all want to know that answer. However, are we TOO concerned with weight that we're passing it onto our kids too early?

Diet Pill Reviews

I do not know anything about diet pills. I've never taken them, though I've considered it over the last few years. I haven't because I am concerned about the side effects and I don't trust pharmaceutical companies all that much. Plus I take thyroid medication so I have to be careful about what other drugs I put into my system that might react negatively. I'd like to find a good site to read about diet pill reviews, something with honest consumer input or I'd like to talk to others who have taken them. It doesn't seem like anybody wants to admit to it though.

Have you taken diet pills? Which ones? Did you have any negative reaction? Did they work?

If You Were an Apple, You'd Be Delicious

...that's what my three-year-old said to me today after hearing a girl in "17 Again" (movie with Zac Efron) say it today at the movie theatre. I would imagine I'll hear it a few more times as more kids go and see this movie, lol. It was a cute movie. I can see why a lot of girls like Zac Efron. He's a cute kid. I guess he's not technically a kid. He is 22 years old. My kids liked the movie. We ate too much double buttered popcorn, pepsi, nachos, and junior mints. What a combo! Oy, my poor stomach.

After a week of eating too much and too often, this trip to the movies and all the unhealthy food I put into my system today was just a drop in the bucket. My weight scale tells me it is time to do something. The scale screams, "You're hurting me. Get off!" every time I step on it now. If I don't start doing something about myself, I am going to have to make friends with 200 if I keep this up! Boy do I need the best diet pills on the market about now!

Diet Pill Information at dietpill.net

I am on dietpill.net looking at a diet product called Fenphedra. The reviews on the site look positive and they offer free shipping on orders over $75 so if you're looking for diet pill information, their web site - Diet Pill - offers information you might find interesting not only on Fenphedra but a lot of other products for fat burning, appetite suppressant, carb blocking, thermogenics and more.

National Weight Loss Program?

I've heard people talking about some national weight loss thing going on right now. Does anybody know what this is? Is there some place online to find out what this is all about or is this an "Oprah" thing?

Thyroid Woes

I was talking to one of my sisters last night and she mentioned some thyroid supplements her husband is taking that has to do with "whole foods" (anybody else familiar with the whole foods concept?). I seriously want some of this stuff along with the cleanse supplements. I dream of 20 pounds just melting off of me...good dream huh?

Many people take a diet pill with good results. I can't take them because of the medication I am on for my thyroid disease. I react oddly to medications since starting thyroid hormones seven years ago so I don't risk it. It'd be nice to find a cure and have my thyroid fully functioning again. The problem is I don't know if it is completely dead by now so it may be too late.

Diet Supplement Results - Hydroxycut

I see all kinds of diet products on the television, in magazines, and on the Internet. They all claim to do wonders for your body (though some of the side effects leave me a bit on the grossed out side). So, I would like to know who has tried some of these, side effects, and your weight results.

In particular, I am looking for information on Hydroxycut hardcore. If you've used it, let me know what you thought of it.

If you've used others, let me know about those too. I would really like to know which ones do what they claim without a lot of negative side effects.

Maybe if I hadn't just shoveled two pieces of Baklava into my face, I wouldn't be worrying about weight loss right now. I really need more willpower.

Where is the willpower?

I have none so it's no wonder I can't find it anywhere! In the past few weeks, I've added a couple of pounds onto a frame that already needed to lose weight. Stomping and throwing a temper tantrum won't get rid of it (if I stomp and tantrum for an hour, I wonder how many calories I'd burn?).

There are lots of appetite suppressants available, like Phentermine. My appetite isn't my problem though. My problem is that I don't eat enough, making my body hold onto every calorie it takes in, and I don't exercise. If I would exercise, it would jump-start my sluggish metabolism and start the fat burning.

I always think I will walk every morning after the kids get to school, but something else always needs to be done. I figured I would do sit-ups a few times each day but that only happened once.

You know, if I spent as much time exercising as I do dreading how I look, I'd probably lose a few pounds. Lazy. That's what I am.

Exercise Update

Well, I started exercising again. The last couple of days has seen me playing countless volleyball games. I have the sore forearm to prove it. Ouch! We play several games a day with all of the kids. Sometimes, it is girls against boys. Sometimes, it is hubby and me against five of the kids (we still win though they have fun making fun of the "old people").

Here is to hoping this jump starts the weight loss...AGAIN. I was doing good and then it kind of petered out with the daily rain almost everyday over the last few weeks.

Come on weight, go away.

Exercise Update

I have been so lax the last few weeks on my exercising that I haven't lost anymore weight. With it raining six out of seven days a week for the last few weeks, my volleyball time has been cut down to nothing. Since I hate to exercise, it has to be something I enjoy doing (volleyball) or else I won't do it. I'm stubborn that way. I know many people who utilize the diet pill approach, but I am not there yet for myself. Yet.

Weight Loss Meme

I have joined an online weight loss meme for incentive to help me keep exercising to lose weight. I first saw it on the blog of an online friend, Muthahood Crib. So, I followed the bread crumbs (they're carb free bread crumbs:) to the origination of the meme and signed up! Every Tuesday, I will post the results on my blog for the whole world to see, goddess help me.

I would like to lose a tad all over but I really have to lose the weight around the middle. That's my bad spot. It's not good for my back as my lower back spasms remind me all of the time. My husband doesn't want me to lose weight. He says he likes me just the way that I am, I've had four kids, I have thyroid disease, yada yada yada. He's being a nice guy 'cause, of course, he wants to keep up great after dark marital relations, lol. He knows what to tell a woman so he doesn't get into trouble.

I see reality staring back at me in the mirror though. It's time to do something about it. Besides, this gal is going to a Billy Idol/Def Leppart rock concert in August and I plan to dress like it for Billy! *gushy sigh* Momma is dusting off the bar clothes and going out to have some fun!

Check back on Tuesdays to see the results. Here's hoping they are all good results, lol.

This was last week's:

I guess the volleyball games and walking might actually be doing something. I hope my metabolism will kick in like it used to and this weight will start to drop off but I really don't know. My thyroid disease really messed it up.

Weight Loss

Well, I am still on track for increasing my activity level to lose some weight. I do not have an "exercise regimen" specifically. I've never stuck to those before so I decided to try something different.

What I decided to do was just increase my activity level in general. That means going outside to play kickball or volleyball with the kids at least every other day and walking with the remaining child not in school yet during the day around the neighborhood. We played volleyball a couple of times this weekend and I just finished my morning walk for today.

Now, the activity level isn't so huge that it is burning up tons of calories each time, however, I am hoping to jump start my thyroid disease challenged metabolism...rev it up a bit. I used to have fantastic metabolism until my thyroid decided to try to annihilate itself.

Here's to this next week of keeping the activity level up.
