Still Looking for Madeleine McCann

Madeleine McCann disappeared two years ago at the age of four. She would now be six. They did an age progression to show what they think she'd look like now in the hopes that somebody would recognize her. It's really hard to look at her big, beautiful eyes in this video and realize she's just gone. My youngest is now four and I can't imagine the anguish of losing her and not knowing what happened. I don't understand how people can be so sick. Our society is full of disgusting excuses for human beings and it's scary.

My only concern is that it seems like they aged her too much in the picture. She looks more like she'd be 8-9 years old in the video instead of the six she'd be.

Post 3: Somebody Stole My Bank Card Number

Well, finally we have a conclusion to somebody stealing my bank card number and shopping all over the United Kingdom with it! (For background, see the first and second post.)

All the fraud charges were reversed on my card. My bank, who seemed to enjoy charging me overdraft fees every single day this whole ordeal went on even though they knew my account was with the fraud division of their bank, finally reversed all their charges too. We got our money back.

We never were able to file a police report. Every time we went to our police department, they were closed. Locked up tight. Nobody working. Our tax dollars at work!! We don't know how my bank card number made it to the United Kingdom and there isn't a police report to go after the people who did this (which likely wouldn't result in any charges anyway...these hackers are good). It's over with.

Now that our money is back, it won't be there long. I'm not keeping that account.

Voter Violation Charges Against Three Black Panthers Dropped by Obama's Justice Department

It's been awhile since November's elections but I remember the big deal in the media over some alleged voter intimidation by three Black Panthers at polling places, one holding a nightstick. They were charged with violating the voter rights act by using coercion, threats and intimidation. Here is what has been said about it:

"...were accused of trying to threaten voters and block poll and campaign workers by the threat of force - one even brandishing what prosecutors call a deadly weapon."

"...violating the voter rights act by using coercion, threats and intimidation. Shabazz allegedly held a nightstick or baton that prosecutors said he pointed at people and menacingly taped it. "

"...they hurled racial slurs at both blacks and whites."

Democrat Bartle Bull, who worked as a civil rights lawyer in the south in the 1960's, said it was the most blatant form of voter intimidation he had ever seen. In his affidavit, Bull wrote "I watched the two uniformed men confront voters and attempt to intimidate voters. They were positioned in a location that forced every voter to pass in close proximity to them. The weapon was openly displayed and brandished in plain sight of voters." He also said they tried to "interfere with the work of other poll observers ... whom the uniformed men apparently believed did not share their preferences politically," noting that one of the panthers turned toward the white poll observers and said "you are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker."

The charges that had been filed for these violations were recently dropped by Obama's Justice Department.

Nikki Catsouras Accident Scene Photos

It's all over the 'net today about the photos from a very bad accident that this teenaged girl, Nikki Catsouras, was in (she was driving her dad's Porsche, which she'd been forbidden to drive, driving 100 mph when she crashed so you can imagine how horrific the accident was). The accident killed this 18-year-old three years ago and the photos are being leaked on the Internet. How horrid. Why would people post pictures like that? Why would people do that to the family of this girl? I think it's disgusting. The Internet is full of information but being morbid and cruel shouldn't be a part of it.

Somebody actually emailed these photos to the parents. What kind of sicko does that?

So, if you came here looking for the photos of a young woman almost decapitated, you won't find them here. Get a life and a hell of a lot of counseling!

I feel so bad for the family. Losing a child would be devastating but to be harassed by sick individuals sending photos from the scene of their deceased child, the person or people who did this must be mental.

I've lost loved ones in traffic accidents - three times actually. It's devastating and horrific. Loved ones left behind in grief shouldn't be faced with sick individuals taunting them after the fact.

Part 1: Somebody Stole My Bank Card Number!

Apparently, somebody is having one helluva good time in Great Britain and California with my bank account. I just went online to check balances today. Imagine my surprise (horror!) to find that our bank account is over a thousand dollars in the hole!!

I called our bank. They said it looks like you've been traveling all over having a good time. Yeah, I wish!

I have to go up to our bank in about a half hour to sign the forms to dispute all the charges. What a mess. Now I'm wondering where/how they stole it, if I need to cancel regular credit cards, if my social security number is safe, etc. I will have to look up later how to go about checking on other items for identity theft right away. I'll have to keep in mind to contact the credit agencies too regularly over the next several months and see if they've stolen anything else from me. What a pain.

Damn thieves!!

Underwire bra is torture but possibly saves a life

A lucky woman wearing an underwire bra in Detroit might be alive due to these uncomfortable contraptions. It seems the underwire deflected a bullet...never penetrated the skin. What a lucky woman!

I didn't think underwire was good for much of anything except torture personally but for this 57-year-old woman in Detroit, I'll bet she's thanking her lucky stars she had it on. If she'd had my hang-up about underwire, she might not be alive.

Protecing Our Children

With all the highly publicized child kidnappings (Cayley, Hayleigh, and now the latest is little Sandra in California), it is scary to let your child out of your sight anymore. What is wrong with people?

When I was a child, we could get on our bikes and as long as we checked in every so often, we were good to be gone pretty much all day long. I know crime still happened way back when but it certainly doesn't seem like it happened as often or was so widespread. Nowadays, I wouldn't let my child ride around the block, let alone take off for hours at a time like I used to. Am I supposed to look into self defense products for my children now, like I would for myself, if they want to go outside?

We teach our kids about 'stranger danger' but it doesn't seem like it's enough. We can't arm our children but I can't let them run loose around the neighborhood either so they stay home in our yard. It's a good thing we have a large backyard for them.

How do we keep our children safe without suffocating them? That's a predicament.

When my girls were invited to a sleepover at the grandparents of a school friend of theirs, I went online (sex offender registry and county property records) to check out the family and the area surrounding the family. I found a relative, who had property next door to the home where the party was, on the sex offender registry list. This family member could, in all likelihood, had been at the child's birthday party, with my children, had I allowed them to go.

I didn't. Thank god!

Will the registry find every pedophile? Absolutely not. For all that are caught, there are probably twice as many who aren't. However, it certainly helped us when we needed it.

Chandra Levy's Possible Murderer Found (and it wasn't Gary Condit)

When Chandra Levy disappeared eight years ago, the police (and media) put then-California Representative Gary Condit on public trial because he'd been having an affair with her, it was assumed he'd murdered her. He lost his seat when everything came out. Did the police look hard enough for other suspects or did they pretty much concentrate on Gary Condit?

In the works is an arrest warrant for Ingmar Guandique for the murder of Chandra Levy, who the police actually did question back then. He apparently told them that he saw her in the park but didn't harm her. He is now in prison for the assault of two women who were jogging in Washington's Rock Creek Park, where Chandra Levy's body was found.

I am not big on politicians. I think they're all mostly liars in one way or another, however, that is a long way from murder. Gary Condit was crucified publicly and has lived with the fact that people thought he murdered this woman for along time.

What are the police to do? In a large percentage of cases, crimes are committed by somebody the victim knew so is it ok that police tend to concentrate more on people known to the victim or should they do more to look for strangers?

Actor Shelley Malil Arrested

Actor Shelley Malil (40-Year-Old Virgin) was arrested as part of an investigation involving the stabbing of a former girlfriend. She was stabbed more than 20 times and is in critical condition.

More than 20 times seems like a heck of a lot of anger and/or mental instability. Intense. Overwhelming. Brutal.

Holding Government Accountable

The Jamie Leigh Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to aid United States citizens who work for the government outside the U. S. who become victims of crimes by other U. S. citizens. The founder's name is Jamie Leigh Daigle who worked for Halliburton and was sent to Iraq in 2005 for the company. She was allegedly drugged and raped within four days of her arrival in Iraq by her coworkers at Halliburton/KBR (Kellogg Brown & Root). Nobody has been charged. The rape kit went missing after being handed over to KBR security officers (who was the idiot that allowed them to get it in the first place?) and then recovered with important pieces of evidence missing. The government has done nothing to bring this to trial or give this woman any justice at all. KBR, of course, is pushing for arbitration so none of this gets out into the public as it would with a trial.

It's no wonder that our kids today aren't held accountable enough for their actions with teens beating other teens and other crimes by children across the nation seeming to go up (and that may just be because of the internet and the swiftness in which information can be sent now), but it seems that enough adults aren't being held accountable for their actions either.
