Wanting Homegrown Fruit

I love fruit (vegetables...not so much). We have an acre of property that I would like to plant a couple of fruit trees on so I know how they are grown before my family eats them.

I'd love to have a couple of Plum trees in my backyard but I know my kids would like peach trees. They love peaches. They're good fruit eaters (but vegetables...not so much).

I don't know anything about growing trees but I do ok with other plantings outside so maybe I could grow a few fruit trees. Indoors, that's another story - I kill all indoor plants. I'm not sure how it happens but it does.
