I just googled web directories and my URL for this blog and it came back as being in a directory for parenting/mothers. I don't remember doing that. Does google index things that way on their own?
Maybe I did do it and don't remember. That wouldn't surprise me at all. My memory is pretty much mush anymore.
We pay for high-speed internet, yet we don't have high-speed internet. Why?
I don't really know.
We got a new modem and Linksys router because we thought it might've been one of those, but neither fixed the problem. The problem is with our ISP, I think, but they don't see what it is. We went from high-speed internet access, overnight to dinosaur-age speeds - it's like dial-up all over again! I am going to change our ISP this week I think because I've had it with waiting for our current ISP. We've been like this for months!
I want blazing fast internet access for work and play (and by play, I mean my facebook addiction).
I am seriously about to toss my computer out a window! The internet connection keeps going out on me. I called our provider and she couldn't help. She said this morning that she'd escalate my claim to a higher department and they'd call me back. No call back.
I think I need to call Belkin about the router for our wireless internet connection but their customer support is in India. Nothing against the citizens of India, but I have a hard time understanding what they are asking me on the phone. If I can't understand, then I can't do what they're telling me.
It is times like this when I wish there was an IT Department I could call like I could when I worked outside the home. I would imagine with technology advancing rapidly, if you do a IT job search now or five years from now, there will be good job availability.
I think there needs to be an inexpensive IT service for work-at-home parents like me who know a lot about using computer programs but not enough about the system itself to keep it running properly all the time. It can get very frustrating to have work piled up, due tomorrow via the Internet, and have the Internet connection go out on you all day long.
We are going to change our television programming to try to save some money with the way the economy is right now. Hopefully it'll mean companies are more ready and willing to deal a little on the prices. While I'm looking around, I'm wondering if high speed satellite internet is better than what we have now.
Have you been able to negotiation costs on things like Internet and television services? It seems to me that everything should be negotiable if companies want to gain customers.
I wonder what else is negotiable that we don't know about? Grocery deals? Boy, wouldn't that be nice! It seems to me that the utility companies wouldn't deal because we're limited on who we can switch our service to so they have us right where they want us...just like gas prices. Are retail stores willing to negotiate? I just bought four winter coats for my kids. I sure would have liked to have a break on those prices. Would one store give you a cost break to get you to buy from them over another store?
Where are the best deals?
The new search engine, Bing, is doing better for traffic than even Digg or Twitter according to mashable. Since I'd not heard of it until reading it there, I thought maybe there are others who hadn't heard of this new web toy.
It is Microsoft's search engine so except for those who stay away from everything Microsoft (and I know you're out there), you might be interested in checking out this new search engine.
I can create a basic web site. I have two of our own that I designed and I also made one for a local horse rescue that I maintain for them. It was fun to find out that I had a little bit of creativity in me, but not enough to make it a career. If I wanted a more involved, professional web site, I would definitely go to the professionals to do it. It is too important for businesses to have a good presence on the web and to make a good, lasting impression.

Yikes! The internet news says Hostgator is down. Thankfully, I don't have any of my web sites at Hostgator. I use GoDaddy. They've never gone down on me so I think I'll just stick with GoDaddy no matter how many ads I see for Hostgator floating around the internet.
Read more...We are putting an old computer in my son's room. It won't have internet access. It will just be for playing around with the Microsoft software (they like to make slideshows with them) and computer games. I don't believe children should have internet access in their bedrooms. In fact, I don't believe they should be on the internet right now unless I'm standing right there with them.
I have to find my son a desk that is less than 45" long so it will fit in the one spot in his room that it can go. I can't find a decent desk for the right price. I've seen tv stands everywhere so I think they've limited their desks in-store to make room for the tv stands. I guess I'll continue my desk shopping online to see what I can find.
The Internet can be a very educational place. It contains such a wealth of information on any subject you can imagine.
It can also be a place with inaccurate information that makes the rounds to the more cruel 'not so nice' people you meet in chat rooms and forums all the way to the disgusting predators. It's definitely a place to use your head where it concerns your own safety and children's safety
My 11 year old daughter has been using it more this year for school projects but the computer is in our living room and I am right there with her so I can see what she is checking out at all times. If you have kids, I don't think there is any other way to allow them to have Internet access...it's not safe for them to have unsupervised access in my opinion. There are too many creeps online just waiting for me to turn my back like that!
It's taught me that the world is definitely bigger than our own little homes in our neighborhoods but it has also reminded me to be cautious with safety. The Internet holds so much positive information but for every positive, there is a negative so supervise your children please.
We bought my father-in-law a new computer system with a faster processor and better hard drive. They are coming to visit soon and will be bringing their old system with them for my oldest daughter for school work.
She can't wait to have a computer again. She would like to have the Internet on it but I am against a child having Internet access in their bedrooms where they can't be monitored closely. I've heard there is a browser program that you can pay for monthly or annually that is totally parent controlled. However even at that, I still don't feel right about a child having Internet access in their bedrooms. Do you allow your child unmonitored Internet access?
I've seen the term "Web 2.0" a lot around the web over the last couple of months. I don't know what Web 2.0 means. I know versions of software programs change as upgrades are created, but it doesn't seem like that is what this is (how can the entire Internet be "upgraded" like Vista - still out on the success of that upgrade BTW)? It doesn't make sense to me, but everybody is talking about it. What the heck is it? Anybody want to enlighten me please?
