Golf Technology

I stink at golf.  Even with private lessons at a private club with my own clubs, I was a complete failure.  Did you know there is actual technology for golf?  It's not just swing (miss), swing again, walk and look for your ball, swing (and miss), walk, etc.?  If I had a garmin golf gps systems, maybe I would've done better? Eh, who am I kidding. I miss the ball - repeatedly. If I can't get the ball to go anywhere, a device telling me how many yards to the green isn't going to help me. However, it does look like it'd be a really good gift for a golfer for the upcoming holidays (yes, they are coming - - faster than you think)!

Sports Team Apparel

School sports have started.  I have three girls in cheerleading and my son playing soccer.  I want to buy sports clothes in their school colors but buying them from the stands at the game is so expensive.  I looked online to see about designing my own custom football jerseys and soccer jerseys in their school colors to wear on game days to school and found Custom Planet.  This looks like a great place for teams or classes to order clothing in their school colors to show school spirit! You can make custom t-shirts, uniforms for basketball, baseball, football, as well as hats and more. They will help you with the graphic design or you can upload your own graphics.  I fiddled around with it and had a lot of fun designing a t-shirt for juniors.

These would be a great idea for youth teams for an affordable jersey for sports that aren't sponsored by a school or for team members to wear outside of game day - showing team spirit!

I need some "mom" sports clothes in my kids' school colors to support my kids from the stands. I'm off to design and shop!

Send out baby shower invitations during hunting season!

What is the best day to throw a baby shower at this time of year? I say the best day is football game day or during hunting season. With football and hunting season well under way, now is the perfect time to get all the girls together for a shower (party, get together, just to have fun) for all those hunting and football widows out there. Of course, there are women who enjoy both too.

For me personally, I'd prefer to send out the baby shower invitations while the boys were away hunting or watching football to get some good girl time in. Unless it is during the big game - Ohio State University vs. University of Michigan this weekend. Even though I'm not a big fan of football, that is one game I always keep an eye on.

Midget Racing

We just finished up with the pee wee cheerleading practice. The girls are 2nd and 3rd graders and really cute. They'll cheer for pee wee football.

While we were at practice (which is held in the park), I could hear the midget racing on the track in the park. It's actually called Quarter Midget racing and it's a huge deal in this area and for those who travel here to race. I've never seen it up close, only heard the whine of the engines as they raced around the track. I wouldn't want to race around a track but I'd love an all-terrain vehicle like the Yamaha Rhino 660 to take off road. That's my idea of fun!

Trophies for Kids

Soccer season is winding down. My daughter has two more games and my son has a game and then tournaments start. At this level (peewee soccer, elementary age), all of the kids get trophies. I'm not sure what they do at the tournament level, like for my son, since this is the first time I've had a child in sports reach the age-level where they have tournaments. Some people have a problem with all the children receiving trophies and think only the winners should get trophies. At this age, I think it is great that the league does this for all of the kids. They certainly don't have to and for what we pay to have our children play, you know the price of these trophies are coming out of somebody's personal pocket. The kids try their best and put their little hearts into learning the game and having fun (even when you know by looking at some of the kids that they aren't very good, lol, but they're so adorable). I can see once kids get into junior high and high school why giving trophies to every player on all the teams wouldn't be right but when you have kids who are four years old, six years old, etc. playing, keeping it fun for them and letting them be proud of what they've learned is great.

So whether it is peewee soccer and soccer trophies or peewee football and football trophies, I say let the kids have fun and have that trophy to be proud of.

Morbid Weekend

Bernie Mac passes away due to complications of pneumonia. Isaac Hayes was found unresponsive next to a treadmill that was still running but died at the hospital shortly thereafter. Two tourists, in-laws to the U.S. men's volleyball coach at the Olympics as well as parents of a former Olympian, were both stabbed, one fatally and one critically.

Geez! There are still a couple hours left to the weekend. Is anything else going to happen?!?!
