Second Baby Shower Etiquette

One of my sisters is having a baby shower in a few weeks for her second child. I was surprised to hear this since it is her second child, though there is a gap between the first child and the new baby. I was also surprised to be asked to contribute a certain amount towards a new crib that costs A LOT of money (she still has her first crib from the first shower that we all bought for her). I have to say that I was irritated by the request and told the sister making the request I wouldn't be contributing towards another crib.

One sister (who is unemployed, in nursing school, and is a single mother) was asked to help pay a third of the hall costs! What gall! I'm going to buy this sister a t-shirt that says "doormat" on it (and yes, I told her I was going to do that).

I really don't agree with this second shower to begin with. I feel that because my pregnant sister and her husband both work, they shouldn't be expecting others to pay for a second shower. I feel that if they want a second shower, then they should pay for it themselves in this economy (especially asking unemployed others to foot some of the bill).

Bella Band Works Better For Pregnancy

During a first pregnancy, I think most of us get into maternity clothes earlier than we need to because we're just so excited to show the world that we're pregnant. By the second, third (and fourth in my case) pregnancy, I wasn't as excited to lose the use of my regular clothes so soon. I tried to keep them longer with an elastic band through the button hole and around the button but it didn't look nice, especially for work. Rigging your pants like that doesn't work well and when the rubber band breaks - oh boy! I snapped more rubber bands (and that hurts!) trying to keep my regular clothes longer! I needed a bella band!

A bella band can be worn over regular clothes that you leave unbuttoned so it holds them up. It extends your regular wardrobe at the beginning of pregnancy and after delivery so you can get back into your regular clothes sooner! If your maternity pants are a little big or fall low around the hips, which is the style, it will keep them up so you can keep wearing your low-rise jeans longer.

Oh How Maternity Clothes Have Changed!

Over 13 years ago, when I started having children, maternity clothes were like tents. I had a really hard time finding casual clothes that were feminine, unless you count the big bow on the belly as being feminine, which I didn't. Finding work clothes that were professional was next to impossible way back then.

Now they are making maternity clothes that are more form fitting and offering more of a variety - it seems this generation of pregnant women can be pregnant and sexy too. No more tents to hide behind!

With a comfortable pair of white shorts and some strappy little sandals, this outfit here seems comfortable for casual summer days. It almost gives me that little urge to have another baby.

I just heard that Heidi Klum is pregnant again. I've seen pictures of her pregnant and she rocks the pregnant look! Much better than I did. She also seems like she has a wonderful family with Seal.

Actually, the little baby next door gives me a little urge for another baby. If we ever decided to add to our already large family, I'd get a whole new stylish maternity wardrobe because, thankfully, all the old tent-like maternity clothes are long gone.
