Gift Ideas for Teen Boys - Percussion!

I found the perfect birthday present for my percussion-loving son - a djembe (pictured above)!  We bought him a Cajon already that he loves (pictured below).  I think we'll add to his percussion collection (a full drum set and a Cajon is a pretty good start for a teenager) with this djembe.  I think he'd love it.  They also come brightly colored or more plain - totally up to what you like.

Here is a silly boy being "zen" after playing his Cajon we bought him for his birthday a couple years ago.

DIY Make Your Own Household Wipes

I came across this recipe in a magazine on how to make your own household wipes.  I've not tried it. Is anybody familiar with it? I'm looking for input/reviews.

  • Layer coffee filters in resealable container.\
  • Pour just enough multi-surface cleaner to dampen each filter.

These are supposed to have all the "power of your favorite cleaner" and be "durable enough to stand up to your toughest scrubbing."

Anybody tried these?

Tools for Creating Music

My husband just told me that his son signed one of his songs with somebody (electronica techno music...not a singing type song).  I don't know the details or even if it is for real or he was being scammed but he does love creating and recording. Sounds like he is having fun whatever he is doing.

My Odd Valentine's Gift

I did something this past Valentine's Day that I've never done before.  I bought my husband very sexy lingerie for Valentine's Day. No, he isn't into cross-dressing. It just never made sense to me why men buy women lingerie when they are wearing it for MEN. That makes it a gift for the man, right?  I bypassed that whole "here is some sexy lingerie for you to wear for me tonight" spiel and bought the gift for the person it was meant for - the man.  Ha ha!

He said he didn't think it would fit when he opened it.  Lordy, I hope not!

Sick Kiddos

My youngest daughter has had the flu and missed school all week.  My oldest was diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday.  Boy is it a festival of germs in my house right now.

Anybody want to come over?

I didn't think so.

Gift Ideas for Her

If your valentine's gifts for your significant other didn't go over too well this year, perhaps you should start planning NOW how you are going to make it up to her next year? My husband always does well at holidays but I know some husbands need a little help.  I was browsing on http://www.redenvelope.com/wife-gifts-valentines-RWFGV and found some great ideas!

I would love to receive the Teardrop Smokey Quarts Earrings and the Sculptured Jewelry Tree to keep them on when I wasn't wearing them. The Cherry Blossom Candle would look great in my living room but what I'd really love is the Sterling Birthstone Stacking Rings - one for each of our four children.  Gifts that include our children together in some way would mean the most to me.

Musician's Friend Private Reserve Guitars

My husband has been trying to get me to sell him my acoustic guitar.  In his dreams! I'll never sell.

Weather and Asthma

I am sitting at my laptop with my nebulizer, inhaling albuterol so I can breathe, while I type.  I'm so weird!

I think it's the weather causing my lung problems right now - going from cold to warm, snow to 60 degrees.  These last six weeks have been difficult for breathing problems.

Can't wait for spring!!

Do You Fake It With Your Significant Other?

I am just getting around to reading the November issue of Redbook (I've been busy).  On page 25, it says that 71% of wives have faked it with their husbands. That is shocking to me.  My first thought is "why?"  I don't understand the reason behind faking orgasm with a person you are supposed to be honest to and close with.  Maybe I am just spoiled from a guy who doesn't finish until after I do.

Momma Time

Does anybody have one of those mini portables, small netbook laptops?  I was looking at them for my teenager (I just ended up giving her my old computer instead for now).  She just turned 15 and having a computer for homework is much more convenient than her encroaching on my own space.  Momma needs her own space!

Speaking of own space...it's time to send the two youngest to bed.  Momma needs her quiet time too!  I don't feel guilty about that either.

Stepfamily for the Birds

This stepfamily stuff is for the birds. If you think it will get easier when they're older - nope. Harder.

At least when they're younger, they have an excuse for bad behavior (their other parent, lol).  As adult stepchildren - not so much. It's all on them.
