Call me Peg Bundy

The wall above my sink is damaged. I need to cover up the imperfections in the drywall and I was thinking about using a glass tiles or a metal tile. I've never used either before so it'd be a learning process for me. I really love the glass mosaic tiles. I always see them being used on those home shows on television and they always look so nice. The home shows always make everything look so easy though. I don't want to spend the money buying the supplies and then mess it up. I wish I had a Bob Vila gene! I have a "Peg Bundy, Married with Children" gene. There are some things I am just useless for and home repair and home updating is one of them.

Finally Bought Paint!

We finally bought paint for our kitchen and entryway. I picked out an olive color because I like Autumn colors - deeper greens, reds, golds, browns. When the leaves change color, I just love it! I thought that meant that my husband was going to start painting since it was his idea to get the paint when we did. I've been waiting for months now. Nope. It's been sitting on my kitchen counter since we bought it this past weekend and the next couple of weekends are already scheduled (and painting isn't on the schedule). I bought two pictures for my kitchen over a year ago (wine pictures). Now I'll have to wait longer to hang them I guess.

What kind of decor do you like? Some like country (hearts, geese, and rooster dinnerware), others like modern, traditional, etc.. I don't have any one style. I'd be happy just to have my kitchen painted!

Bathroom Faucets

I am looking for new hardware for the bathrooms and I am thinking about going with Moen faucets. They are a well-known brand and there are plenty to choose from. I want a really nice shower head that feels more like a massage than a shower. I have to have some stress reliever when I hide from the kids in the bathroom!

The In-Laws

We haven't seen my husband's parents since last summer. One thing after another came up last Fall and then winter was too bad where they live to dig themselves out to travel out of state. My littlest one sure is missing her Ma-Moo.

My father-in-law HAS to stay busy or else it drives him batty. So things get done at my house when he comes. He has installed kitchen cabinets, dishwashers, sinks, bathroom vanities, built decks and porches. He's like Bob Vila!

The wind storm a few weeks ago did some damage. One piece of damage was to my light fixture outside my front door. The wind pulled the top off of one of them and when it hit the cement, the top broke off. I am hoping to put two new light fixtures on his list when he comes to visit. I feel a little guilty about having work for him to do after he drives 5-6 hours to visit but he expects it (and needs it or else it drives him nuts to sit still). He is almost 80 but he still wants to go, go, go!

It's the only time I can get my husband to do any type of home improvements (he didn't get the "Bob Vila" gene I guess). He won't do any unless his dad is here!

Looking For Redecorating Ideas

During the course of our redecorating, our lighting is going to have to be replaced as well in several rooms sooner rather than later. One of those fixtures to be replaced is going to be our foyer chandelier. The one we have now is awful and the previous owners slapped paint across it when they were repainting! I was looking at Hinkley lighting fixtures and found several chandeliers that I really liked. Now I need to find dining room lighting as well so off I go to online window shop!

Which paint color?

When it comes to picking paint colors for our home, I am the most indecisive person you will ever meet. I literally have about 80 paint swatches on my living room wall, trying to pick out the perfect color. I still don't know. I moved a few swatches into the kitchen to see how they'd work with the cabinets and countertop. I am leaning more towards the color swatches that are closest to the countertop, specifically the two olive swatches and the chocolate brown swatch. What do you think?

which paint color?

Whatever I pick for the kitchen is going to have to complement the dining room, living room, hall, and entry since they all open up to each other. So, I am thinking one color for the kitchen and one color for the rest. It's just the deciding part that has me stuck. Please check out the poll at the top right of my blog and pick the color you like best! Polling closes 3/20/08.
